Can you try this :webmail.shaw.ca, I phone the company (shaw cable) and they said it's the software. It works in IE6

Tried it in IE7..no go. The website probably does not recognise IE7 yet. Tried it in Firefox...bingo! Working fine. Apparently there is a workaround to fool websites into thinking that IE7 is IE6, but I don't know the details.

I downloaded IE6sp2.reg to fool IE7 in believing it's version 6, tried reloading webmail.shaw.ca it doesn't work. Ideas?? I tried firefox, or IE6, it worked.

Did anyone get an update to this?
I also can not use Vista to access BMO.com's online banking page.
I called Shaw and they had nothing useful to say.
I have configured the machine I am testing Vista as a dual boot with WinXP running SP2, IE7 Beta3 and Office 2007. Under XP, I can access http://webmail.shaw.ca .
Any ideas would be welcome.

Hello Mr. Mathews
Accessing Secure Banking sites is a known problem with IE7 that is included with Vista or as a stand alone installation. MS is most likely aware and is a known issue at this time. Also you can verify with BMO Bank as per their site telling them that you are using IE7 and when will they make their site compatible with IE7

I used Vista for awhile and had no problem accessing webmail.shaw nor my bank...ScotiaBank. I am now back to XP still using IE7 beta 2 without problems

I have verified on two other Vista PC's that webmail.shaw.ca can not be accessed. All three machines have Office 2007 also installed on them so perhaps that explains the different experience Peter and most others have had.
After installing Mozilla, all is well and after booting back to XP with IE7, all is well. As such the problem is definately with the version/config of Vista's IE7. The Vista IE7 Beta 2 build # is 200 points older than WinXP IE7 Beta 3.
Unless someone has a bright idea, I think the prudent thing to do is wait for B3 for IE7 on Vista, or much more likely for Vista RC1 to be released with RC1 of IE7.

Did you try the IE6 Agent string that has been floating around for quite awhile and is a common workaround for this problem? It tells the site that your browser is IE6 when it is really IE7. A lot of banks do not allow any betas to access their customer accounts.

That is a neat tool but it did not help.
Interestingly, I installed Mozilla and it pops up an alert about the site webmail.shaw.ca having WEAK SECURITY. It then lets the user into the site.
